Vegas heat doesn’t care how good your itinerary looks. Before a desert drive, check the forecast, bring drinking water and give your rental a quick once-over. A little prep beats dealing with a warning light far from your hotel.

If you’re checking tire pressure, do it when the tires are cold and use the vehicle’s recommended pressure. Not sure what a warning means? Ask your rental company before continuing rather than guessing or letting air out of hot tires.

Give a hot cabin time to cool before setting off. Secure your things and keep water within reach. Never leave people or pets in a parked car — a quick stop isn’t an exception.

In an electric rental, treat the displayed range as an estimate, not a promise. Heat and air-conditioning use can affect your trip, so check the vehicle guidance and build charging stops into the plan instead of waiting for the battery to get low.

Pack water for everyone and check official heat advice before outdoor stops. Your scenic-drive kit doesn’t need to be fancy; it needs to be useful when you’re away from services.
