A Hoover Dam day trip is a great reason to get beyond the Strip. Decide whether you want a quick look, a walk or a tour before leaving — those are different days, with different amounts of time to set aside.
Check the Bureau of Reclamation’s current visitor information for opening hours, access and security requirements. Don’t build your day around a promised queue-free arrival time; traffic and visitor demand can change the plan.
Look up current parking options and fees before heading over. Then follow the signs on arrival rather than circling for a spot you remember from an old guide. Bring water and think about how much walking your group is comfortable with.
If the Memorial Bridge walkway is on your list, check current access too. Download your route while you have a connection, leave some breathing room in the schedule, and enjoy the views from designated places — not from the driver’s seat.
