You’ve landed, your phone’s buzzing, and you’re ready for Vegas. First, one small detour: LAS rental car pickup isn’t inside your terminal. Follow your rental confirmation and the airport’s Rental Car Shuttle signs to the shared Rental Car Center. Think bags, shuttle, counter, car — in that order.
Start with your bags. Head to baggage claim in Terminal 1 or Terminal 3 and collect everything before looking for the shuttle. It’s much easier to make one trip than to discover your suitcase is still doing laps on the carousel.
Next, follow the “Rental Car Shuttle” signs toward ground transportation. Don’t guess based on where everyone else is walking; they might be heading for a taxi. If the signs aren’t clear, ask airport staff where your terminal’s rental shuttle boards.
Take the free airport rental shuttle and keep your bags with you. Pull up your confirmation while you wait so your company name and pickup instructions are ready. Shuttle waits and traffic vary, so don’t treat the ride as an exact countdown.
At the center, look for your rental company. Some reservations or loyalty memberships include a different pickup process, so read your confirmation before joining a counter line you might not need. Have the license, payment card and documents your company requires ready to show.
Got the keys? Give the car a quick hello before you leave: adjust the seat and mirrors, find the lights, and photograph its condition and fuel or charge level. Tell the rental staff about anything that doesn’t match the paperwork. Set your route while parked — the garage exit isn’t the place for a phone tutorial.
How much time should you leave? More than just the shuttle ride. Baggage delivery, queues and your company’s pickup process all affect when you’ll drive away. Keep your first dinner or activity flexible rather than banking on an exact airport-to-car time.
For the trip home, check your company’s return instructions and fuel or charging requirements before heading back. Leave room for the handover, the shuttle and your airline’s recommended arrival time. Future you, standing calmly at the gate, will appreciate it.
